TO fight the high unemployment rate in the Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality, a two-day tourism workshop was held in Kilimon village last Thursday and Friday, attended by Department of Economic Development and Tourism officials, B&B owners and business people, among others.

Workshop attendees were advised to start businesses and participate in tourism to make money instead of going to cities to seek work.

Sikhumbuzo Sethuntsa from the municipality said rural people can use their homes to accommodate tourists who visit Underberg, Bulwer and Creighton.

He said many tourists are attracted to ru- ral places, huts, rivers and to eat traditional food.

“In Mkhuzeni village there is a river that attracts visitors where the locals can take them to see the beauty of the river. Instead of going to Johannesburg to seek work people must use what they have to make money,” said Sethuntsa.
