GREETINGS to all

Sod-turning of fire and rescue service unit

TO intensify responses on disasters and co-ordinate security operations together, the municipality is to build a fire and rescue facility on the premises of the new municipal testing centre. Phase 1 of the test centre project is 99% complete, and the Umzimkhulu Municipality is now kicking in the phase2 – the fire and rescue facility and the service provider for this project will be introduced and a sod-turning will be held.

Construction of testing ground

For this project to be functional, some activities had been identified so a service provider to complete the outstanding work will be introduced. The project has taken more than two years to complete due to financial glitches. We thank the community of Umzimkhulu, especially vehicle users, for being patient while the project was under construction.

Community protest

The Umzimkhulu community has had to forfeit a lot in the villages that have no electricity.
Electrification of Umzimkhulu villages has been and is still a priority to both the leadership and management of this municipality, so we ask our communities to be patient with us while we annually secure funds to fulfil that vision of electrifying the villages.

We also ask stakeholders to talk to the municipality when they feel we are moving with a slower pace than expected.
Damaging infrastructure while protesting for service delivery has also not assisted in terms of morale, instead it reverses the service delivery gains accumulated.

Till we meet again.
