Umzimkhulu Local Municipality viewpoint

Signing of election pledge

YESTERDAY, when political parties signed and pledged to abide with the election terms of reference, it became clear that elections are looming. This further confirmed the political season, we as a country, we are faced with. It is on that note that we urge the community of Umzimkhulu and surrounds to be politically tolerant, which is paramount. We have never experienced bad publicity in times like these, and credit must go to political party leadership, so it should not start now.

2016/2017 Financial year

As a municipality, we had particular destination we wanted to take our community to at this stage and we are very happy with where we landed, even though it is not our ideal spot. We thank the community of Umzimkhulu for being with us even though at times we did not deliver according to expectation. The community of this rural and fast-growing municipality is invited to walk with us to another phase of the financial year and total new phase of the political landscape.

This season to some, might be regarded as a holiday season but to the Grade 12 pupils it is a different environment because their future depends on them more than before. We would like to urge parents, pupils and stakeholders to work together in order to academically take this country to another level.

We also encourage schools not to give up on winter school, morning classes, weekend classes and other interventions in order to improve results by the end of the year.

Until we meet again.
