Umzimkhulu viewpoint

Risk assessment
AS a municipality we are currently conducting risk assessments with all the municipal units in their respective departments. Risks that could prohibit the municipality from achieving its target are identified and strategies to minimise those risks are then captured. This exercise plays a huge role towards the implementation of both departmental and unit operational plans that ultimately impact on the organisation score cards.
It also through this exercise that municipal departments sharpen their organisational approach for the following financial year.

AMSCOA workshop
As part of local government, Umzimkhulu Municipality has since undertaken a workshop to capacitate its personnel about the AMSCOA programme hence it had been adopted as a methodology to better and improve the way municipalities render services. This programme had also been adopted to entail smartness on issues of accountability and transparency. This rural based municipality has also ensured that this institution is more than ready to further implement this programme hence it speaks the enhancement of clean audit.

Ward committees face cell phone problems
The municipality conducted an exercise to rica sim cards of ward committee cell phones and it was after this that majority of cell phones were then reported to be having network problems and it became difficult for ward committees to communicate as they should.
It is on that note that we would like to apologise to the community of Umzimkhulu and ward committees in particular and express our gratitude for their patience. We are now at 90% towards solving this challenges hence we are left with Wards 2, 10, 17 and 18 to do.  Till we meet again.
