AN Ethiopian shop owner from Mkhemane village in Matatiele sustained injuries to his head when he was beaten by two women and two men during a business robbery last Thursday at midday.

The female suspects, aged 27 and 34, entered the shop and pretended to buy something.

“The two male suspects, who are still at large, waited outside while the women went inside, but they then entered and robbed the shop owner at gun point.
“The four then assaulted the shop owner. He was also assaulted with the gun.

An undisclosed amount of cash and groceries were taken during robbery,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant Raphael Motloung.

Lukholweni police officers gave chase and managed to arrest the two women who appeared in court on Monday for robbery. Their case was postponed for a formal bail application next Monday.

Motloung said police are still hunting for the males who fled with cash and groceries.
