Caluza man burns to death at home

2015-08-13 06:00

THE Caluza community is in shock after a 45-year-old man, Muzi Ntuli, who lived with his mother, was burnt to death in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Speaking to the area committee member Mlungisi Ntuli, who witnessed the incident, he said the community is in mourning. Ntuli’s mother Buselaphi Dlamini has been taken by the family to Maqonqo where Ntuli will be laid to rest.

The area committee member said they were woken up by Dlamini’s screams.

“We heard the mother screaming and we got up to check what was happening. Their house is not far from my home so I got there as soon as I could.

“When I arrived at the Ntuli’s premises the house was in flames. Fortunately the mother had gotten out of the house, but her son was still inside.

“We knew there was someone inside, but we could not help him because the fire was blazing. We used water but the fire was too high. The fire department came with two fire engines and extinguished the fire,” said Mlungisi.

Ward 20 councillor, Thulani Xulu said police could only find Muzi’s bones after the fire had been extinguished.

“At the moment the mother is homeless. We are trying to build a two-roomed house for her so that when she comes back from the funeral, she has a place to stay,” said Xulu.

Plessislaer spokesperson Thokozani Moleko said police cannot say what started the fire. Muzi’s family could not be reached for comment
