BAFANA Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba has hit back at Roger de Sa for stating that players in the Cape get overlooked for national duty.

KickOff reported the Ajax Cape Town coach said that players based in the Mother City do not get seen enough and he has “spoken to the national team coaches”.

Mashaba said he was shaken by De Sa’s statement, as De Sa sat in meetings with Ajax CEO Ari Efstathiou along with the former Orlando Pirates coach.

“I want coach Roger to come forth and say, ‘Yeah, I’m here. You don’t select Cape Town players’,” said Mashaba.

“When I went to Cape Town he [De Sa] was in that meeting. We were two and he was with the director. I tried, I spoke to them and said: ‘Make the players available’ and they said the players can’t leave.

“I was shocked to see that article. You are making me look bad. We had a couple of players [from Ajax] that we selected for the Under-20, Under-23 and senior national teams. I want him to come out clear and say why he is saying that.”
