THE local South African School Football Association’s (Sasfa) UMgungundlovu district will have a chance to display their hospitality and host capabilities when they stage a provincial tournament.

Sasfa’s UMgungundlovu body is confirmed to be the official host of the provincial event next weekend from 19 to 29 September at Northdale Stadium.

According to the veteran administrator and Sasfa UMgungundlovu chairman and Sasfa’s executive member Bonginkosi Madlala, his district is ready and feel honoured to be given a chance to stage the event.

Madlala says there will be no stage fright for his officials and district because it won’t be the first one.

“We will try our best to run it smooth. The big plus on our side is that our committee is very experienced since we have previously held many provincial school tournaments, especially the finals,” said Madlala.

About 10 schools representing their district will fight it out in next weekend’s event. The UMgungundlovu schools district body will be represented by the popular and star studded Sukuma Comprehensive Secondary School.

Besides the local school outfit, others present will be Zwelethu (UMlazi), Umqhele (Pinetown), Mthwazi (UMkhanyakude), Empangeni (UThungulu), Sihle (Ugu), Dingukwazi (Zululand), Ingabade (Amajuba), Guzana (ILembe) and Sebenzakusakhanya (UMzinyathi).

Winners will take home R100 000 and also represent KZN in the national finals later in the year to stand a chance to further pocket R1 million.

Entrance to the venue of the tournament is free of charge
