I am from Africa

2015-05-07 06:00

I AM the king of my people in Nigeria

I came to South Africa looking for my lost son to take over my throne

I am the king of my people back in Malawi

I stepped down because I wanted to be reunited with my South African family

I am the lecturer at the university of Harare

I came searching for my South African son to take over my reign

I am an African and I moved to South Africa to live with my African brothers and sisters

I am the king of the people in Nigeria and I’ve been searching for my lost son

They welcomed me with open arms, some even offered me a place to stay

They welcomed me with warm smiles, some even praised me

Why did you start hating me? They said I’m a foreigner

Why did you start cursing me? They said I took their jobs

A young man watered me with a petrol bottle, why?

A young man couldn’t bare to look at me as he lit the match burning my soulless body

Something told me “look at the beauty in the eyes of the boy” I looked

I looked and looked straight into his soul, I was joyful

I had found my lost son and he burnt me to death

I had found my lost son and he called me as a foreigner

I had found my lost son and he lives in the misery of racism and xenophobia

I am an entrepreneur from Ghana, just like my African brothers I’m also trying make a living

I came to south Africa because I was trying to provide for my father’s 12 children

I came to South Africa because they spoke of African solidarity, a diverse culture and encouraged world peace

All I got was hatred for my culture

All I got was corpses of my slaughtered children and wife

All I got was to be treated like a non-African, non-human and an animal

All I got were brothers who hated each other and wanted the world to take responsibility for their misplaced hate towards the African society

Are we reaching the end of the world already?

Is this the end of time already?

Where is humanity? where is black to black brotherhood?

Where has the African cultural embracement gone?

How can you call yourself a pure african when your joy revolves around brutality and killing of innocent black people

Even if they weren’t black, are they less human than you are

They cry themselves to death, that’s good music to your ears

Just like the winter logs, you burn us to ash and the difference is you burn us alive and show no remorse but crack a smile

The flames by our bodies lighten up our day while the wives in foreign country’s are wishing and praying that the father gets a chance to meet the latest addition to his six children

They hope he comes back home and provides a hot plate on the table

They hope and pray that their father buys them their first soccer ball, not knowing that his body is turning cold on the streets of Durban with an axe on the brain and a necklace of hot tyre wires

Just be proud, South Africans, another innocent life you have taken
