THE annual youth event, Uprising, hosted by Regenr8 Youth Revolution, will be taking place on 24 and 25 July at GFLC Tabernacle at Longmarket Girls’ School grounds in Boshoff Street.

So You Think You Can Dance season three finalist, Senzosenkosi “Verb” Bhengu, who will perform at the event is only the second krumper worldwide to make it to the finals of the TV dance competition.

This year the event also features a new dance challenge called “Rise Up andamp; Dance” and Bhengu is one of the judges for the dance challenge and will also be offering a free dance workshop.

Dancers and dance crews interested in entering the dance challenge can visit www.rg8.co.za to register.

Uprising began in 2011 by the city youth movement Regenr8 Youth Revolution. One of the aims of the event is to redeem and minister through the arts, including music, dance, drama and the spoken word.

Admission to the event is free. This year because of the addition of Rise Up andamp; Dance the event will be held over two days. Auditions for Rise Up andamp; Dance will take place on Saturday, 25 July from 10am to 1pm.

Bhengu will also be offering a two-hour dance workshop on Saturday, 25 July from 2pm to 4pm. The finals of Rise Up andamp; Dance will take place on Saturday, 25 July from 5pm to 7pm.
