AFTER reports that he was down and out, gospel singer Mvuselelo Buthelezi is testimony that there is victory after tribulations.

The gospel singer from Imbali is due to release his fifth CD album - Thenjiwe - next month and is now the brand ambassador for Land Rover in Pietermaritzburg.

NOKULUNGA NGOBESE spoke to him.

Buthelezi, who was a salesman at the dealership in February, says he believes God has entrusted him with so much as he also plans to start his own ministry when the time is right.

He says the album will seek to restore hope among those who have given up or are on the verge of giving up because of trials and tribulations.

After cutting ties with his previous recording label, Khayelihle Music, Buthelezi smoked the peace pipe with his first producer Percy Ingle who is working with him on the new album.

The album with 15 tracks is a two-in-one with a DVD.

“I chose the name Thenjiwe, which means entrusted because I believe that every one of us is entrusted by God to do something. It’s a testimony about my life and the trials and tribulations I have endured and through it all God has been with me.

“Those who have been through many challenges will identify with it as it speaks about restoring hope, and trusting that God’s plans are better than ours. I had a tough time last year, but I kept the faith.

“Often when we go through trials, we don’t think we will pull through. Sometimes Satan asks us from God in order to see how much faith we have. I did not know that I would be a brand ambassador for a car dealership.”

He said although his first love is music, he encourages aspiring musicians to have something to fall back on.

“When I did a sales and marketing course at Varsity College years back, I did not know that it would help me one day because I had concluded that my career was in the music industry.

“When things did not go accordingly, the course opened doors for me.”

Buthelezi hopes to follow his calling of venturing into ministry one day.

“Growing up in a Christian family with my father being a reverend, I know that one day God will use me to deliver testimonies. I was called into the ministry a long time ago, but he will reveal to me when the time is right.”

THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN THROUGH MANY CHALLENGES WILL IDENTIFY WITH IT AS IT SPEAKS ABOUT RESTORING HOPE, AND TRUSTING THAT GOD’S PLANS ARE BETTER THAN OURS. I HAD A TOUGH TIME LAST YEAR, BUT I KEPT THE FAITH
