JOHNNY APPLE, the talented young artist who recently performed as opening act for One Direction in Johannesburg, and the fourth SA’s Got Talent Competition winner, will perform at the Goldfields Mall on Saturday (09/05) at 11:00.

According to a press release, he started pursuing his musical career in 2008 at the tender age of 11.

It was in 2013 that the 17-year-old Apple decided to take his passion for singing to the next level, auditioning for SA’s Got Talent

. A crowd favourite from the start, he was announced as the winner of the competition in October 2013. Since then has gone on to release his self-titled debut album. With school a priority, it has taken Apple almost a year to release his debut album, but he has not been forgotten.

With Twitter abuzz with affection for the young star, it appears Apple’s career is starting to take off. Not ready to place all his eggs in one basket, he says: “It’s important to me that I finish school, because you never know what’s going to happen in this life. I want something to fall back on. Also, I want to be a good example to those who look up to me – and this is me doing the right thing.

“I want to show people I’m in it for the long run. It’s busy, but I just go with the flow. I love what I do and I don’t see it as work. I’m just grateful I get to do what I love and be recognised for it. I’d love to go international one day and perform with Adele. She is such an inspiration.”

Though still new to the industry, Apple’s enthusiasm is promising and his vocal range even more so. His debut album offers the same soulful sound that won him the SA’s Got Talent title
