MOTHER, entrepreneur and former engineer and planner in the mining sector, Kate Moleme, identified the need for a beauty salon in Kathu to render a sophisticated service to a broad spectrum of clients in this developing town.

On Saturday, 8 August, just before Women’s Day, Moleme officially launched the Sophisti Kate Beauty Salon at the Kalahari Golf Club.

The salon has been open since Saturday (15/08) in the new Kathu Heritage Mall.

The launch was attended by invited guests, clients and dignitaries of the Gamagara Local Municipality, officials of the Gamagara Development Forum, as well as the editor of the My Vision magazine.

“Nominated as the fastest-growing town currently in South Africa, we at the Gamagara Local Municipality support and appreciate initiatives to address unemployment and job creation in Kathu.

“We wish this business to grow and to open new branches in neighbouring towns,” said Kamogelo Semamai, who represented the mayor of the Gamagara Municipality, during her keynote address.

Representing the Gamagara Development Forum (GDF), Omphile Malgas said: “The GDF represents the community of the Gamagara Municipality in partnering with major economic stakeholders to undertake socio-economic development within the municipal jurisdiction.

“Our mandate is to be a developmental organisation of choice to source, manage and disburse funds for the benefit of all beneficiary communities.”

She elaborated on how the GDF identified, selected and implemented developmental projects and initiatives to the benefit of all its beneficiaries equitably, including to create sustainable jobs for the people of the municipality.

“You are passionate about your dream and vision of becoming a successful entrepreneur and to change one life at a time.

“We as the GDF support this initiative,” Malgas said, addressing Moleme.

During her message of support one of the guest speakers, Candice Quenet, said her vision was for local businesses in the community to have a professional platform in order to showcase their services and products.

“Months ago I was dressed in safety boots as planner at a local mine.

“Today I celebrate what once was just a dream to bring beauty and sophistication to not only women, but the broader community of Kathu and surrounding towns.

“The Sophisti Kate Beauty Salon will be sophistication at its best staffed by well-trained stylists,” Moleme, owner of Sophisti Kate and various companies, including Corporate Training andamp; Development and Corporate Events, said.

She further promised that Sophisti Kate would soon have a perfume and a clothing line
