THE Welkom police’s vehicle identification section bid farewell to Capt. Michael Golele who retired after 38 years of outstanding service to the police.

He was bid farewell at a function held on Tuesday, 30 June, in Welkom.

In attendance were colleagues in the police and family members. Golele worked his way up, promoted through the ranks of constable, sergeant and warrant officer. He eventually held the position of captain. He worked in diffe-rent police units. The units include vehicle crime investigation, general detec-tives and firearms. Golele was promoted in 2009 to the position of captain serving in the vehicle identification section unit in Welkom.

Capt. Kgosi Moleme and Capt. Silas Chalale, colleagues of Golele, singled out loyalty and integrity as some of his strong points. Both Moleme and Chalale expressed their appreciation to have learned and gained from Golele a lot of important aspects such as respect, ho-nesty and the responsibility of being a police officer.

Lt.Col Rathekiso Letseleha, the commander of the vehicle identification section, wished Golele all the best in his future endeavours, adding: “I hope all the young police officers have learnt a lot from you and that they will follow in your footsteps.

“Your experience and hard work will be solely missed.”

Letseleha paid tribute to Golele, saying he would be remembered for his de-dication and commitment as a member of the police
