CHRIS CHAMELEON will be in Bloemfontein for a one-night-only concert at the Windmill Casino on Saturday (23/05).

The South African Music Award (Sama) winner is expected to dazzle local fans with his old and new songs, a press release states.

Innovative, prolific and endlessly creative, Chameleon has a unique style, an irresistible stage personality and a reputation for mesmerizing audiences with his four-octave voice and vocal acrobatics. His talent has won him rave reviews and numerous awards over the past six years including two Samas and a Medal of Honour from the South African Academy of Science and Arts.

“We are thrilled to confirm that Chris Chameleon will perform live in an intimate concert for his fans at the Windmill Casino. We urge people to book their tickets soon to avoid missing out. Who knows when we will be able to pin down this sought-after star again,” says Leigh-Anne Moss, the casino’s regional marketing manager.

The show will be at 20:00 in the conference centre. Tickets cost R100 per person at the Windmill Cash Desk.

Chameleon entered the South African music scene in 1997 as the bassist and front man of the band Boo!, an eclectic musical threesome which acquired a worldwide cult following. In its first seven years of existence, Boo! performed over 800 shows in 17 countries, including Hungary, Croatia and 14 states in America. The band also received a Sama for the best pop album in 2002.

When Boo!’s bandmates hung up their instruments in 2004, Chameleon spread his wings, choosing to explore his Afrikaans South African roots by releasing the critically-acclaimed Ek Herhaal Jou compositions of the poetry of 1960’s poet Ingrid Jonker. Ek Herhaal Jou received superb reviews from critics and was lauded for making Jonker’s work accessible to a wide audience. Ek Herhaal Jou was nominated for a 2006 Sama for best adult contemporary Afrikaans album. It reached gold status in July 2006 and platinum status in December 2007.

Chameleon has continued to innovate and garner the unwavering love of his fan base.

In 2014 he undertook a theatre tour of his solo production Klank van jou oë in the Netherlands and Belgium. He has also been working hard on his new Afrikaans album, Posduif, featuring a collection of compositions of the poetry of poet Daniella Deysel
