‘Chiefs will take title’

Joel Faya believes Kaizer Chiefs are poised to “walk away with the league title” this season.

Chiefs are ten points clear of second-placed champions Mamelodi Sundowns with five matches left for Amakhosi.

Downs have a game in hand, but Faya doubts Stuart Baxter’s men will repeat the mistakes of last term.

“I think it is pretty much obvious that Kaizer Chiefs will win this league. I think they started on a good note and it is now just a matter of maintaining form,” says Faya, who is currently Usuthu’s chief scout.

Faya, a feared striker in the late 1970s and early 80s, feels only injuries or suspensions could derail the Glamour Boys at this stage.

“The issue of player suspensions and injuries could be the only challenge that could stop Kaizer Chiefs and be an advantage for Sundowns who have a huge pool of players to choose from.

“Otherwise Kaizer Chiefs will walk away with this title, especially since they are now out of the CAF Championship League with their focus firmly on this trophy.”
