THE photo competition Rocks and Stones Rejoice of the Dutch Reformed Church (DRC) family in the Free State is underway.

This photo competition to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Free State DRC offers lovers of photography, architecture, art and the aesthetic the opportunity to take photographs of churches in the province and enter these. Photos of church buildings of the three churches in the DRC family – the DRC, the Dutch Reformed Church in Africa and the Uniting Reformed Church in Southern Africa – qualify.

Photos entered for the competition may be selected for publication in a commemorative book that Jan van der Merwe will compile.

The 150 best photos will be exhibited from 25 September to 17 October in Gallery on Leviseur in Bloemfontein.

Photos can be entered in three catagories: Church Environment or Community; Architecture and Symbolism; and Light and Shadows. Participants can enter as many photos as they wish at R20 per photo. Entries must be digital and only in JPG format. The maximum size is 2 MB, with the longest side at least 300 pixels at 300 dpi. Get more information at www.facebook.com/events/1531858117036761 and enter on the website www.ngkvrystaat.co.za.

Proof of payment must be received within 24 hours after application. Send proof of payment and direct inquiries to gemeentes@ngkvs.co.za.

The closing date is 31 July
