FREE STATE centre Bernice “Zippy” Strydom believes the team has what it takes to win the Women’s Interprovincial League final.

The Bloemfontein side will battle it out against the Leopards at the BCM Stadium in East London on Saturday (12/09) at 13:00.

The Free Staters boast one of the most successful records in the Women’s Interprovincial League, having won the championship in the previous two seasons.

Morné Dippenaar’s girls will be hoping to make it three final wins in as many years.

They have reached the final after winning the A1 Section stream, while the Leopards have also emerged champions of the B Section stream.

“Clearly it is not going to be an easy match because if you check the statistics we are at the same level. But we have been working hard at training and are determined to win the final,” Strydom told Express.

“We really don’t know much about the Leopards, but I believe they have good players. I think they have one or two players who have been playing for the Springboks.

“We also have two players who have been playing for the Springboks. That clearly shows that it is going to be a difficult final. You can’t compete in a competition if you don’t feel like you’re going to win it. We definitely want to win it,” said Strydom.

“We are going out there to fight with everything we have. We are going to stick to the basics and our game plan. I don’t think the Leopards will beat us. We have a good coach and management team that always support us,” she added.

Free State leave for East London on Thursday (10/09) night and will have their last training session there on Friday (11/09) afternoon.

In another final on the same day, Border will square off against the Blue Bulls at the BCM Stadium. The action gets underway at 15:00
