THE Free State women’s rugby side will want to continue their good run when they face off with the Griffons in Welkom.

The sides meet in the Women’s Interprovincial League match at the Bronville Stadium. The kick-off is at 15:00. Morne Dippenaar’s side will go into the clash on the back of a 34-7 win over Griquas in their last league encounter in Bloemfontein.

Free State lock Lerato Manjiya said even though the match was going to be tough, they were going to the Northern Free State to collect maximum points.

“It’s going to be a difficult match. We know what to expect there but we want to continue with our good run. We want to collect as many points as we can early in the season so that we can successfully defend our league title,” Manjiya told Express.

“We expect the Griffons to come at us like wounded tigers after they had lost their last two games. They will be throwing everything at us. But we are going to make things very difficult for them,” she said.

“We are going for the jugular from the onset. We cannot afford to donate points to any team. Our girls are in high spirits after beating Griquas,” she added. “We are going there to win the match.”

In their next encounter, Free State will welcome Boland to the Clive Solomon Stadium on Saturday, 15 August
