LOCAL CHOIRS within the Matjhabeng Local Municipality have another chance to enter the Clash of the Choirs Music Competition following an extension of the auditions.

The competition organiser, the Matjhabeng Publicity Association, announced that another round of auditions would be held on 25 and 26 July at the Ernest Oppenheimer Theatre in Welkom.

The extension of the auditions aims at affording choirs interested in taking part a chance to register.

The forthcoming auditions are set to start at 10:00. The choral music competition is open for adult choirs and school choirs, both primary and secondary. Adult choirs stand a chance of winning R10 000 and school choirs R5 000 in prize money.

So far, five school choirs have made it through to the next round of the competition. The schools are the Boitekong Primary, Mokgwabong Primary, Riebeeckstad High School, Itumeleng Mabelle Primary and JC Motumi High School.

The entry fee is R300 per choir and entry forms can be collected from the Publicity Association’s office in the Clock Tower, Stateway, Civic Centre, Welkom.
