CLARENS. – Mgababa Manchu, former Super Eagles head coach, has joined the South African Football Association SAB League outfit Clarens Galaxy as head coach.

Manchu joined Galaxy after he had spent a few months without a job following his resignation as the Eagles coach at the end of last season after he had failed to guide the team to a league victory.

He was appointed at Galaxy last week Thursday (15/10) and he started working with the team a day after his appointment.

Luckily, his troops were not in action over the weekend and he will have at least a week to look at the boys ahead of their league encounter against United Wanderers FC on Saturday (24/10) at the Clarens Stadium. Kick-off is at 15:00.

Galaxy were relegated from the Free State ABC Motsepe League last season and they are certainly hoping to bounce back when the season ends; that is why they have appointed the experienced Manchu.

Manchu has confirmed his appointment and added that he was happy to work for Galaxy.

“I joined them last week. I am hoping to have a good season with them and hopefully drive them back to the ABC Motsepe League,” he said.

He said he was not discouraged to be working in the lower league and pointed out that it was a chance for him to rate and prove himself.

“I am ready for every challenge that comes my way. I have watched a couple of their games and saw potential,” he said.

He revealed that there were various teams that had previously shown an interest in his services, but they could not meet his demands.

“Yes, a couple of teams needed my services, but we could not agree on the terms. They were mostly from the Motsepe League, but at the end I chose to move down,” Manchu concluded
