THREE young models of Emodels, Natascha de Klerk, Justin Welgemoed and Thokozile Mbatha, will be part of the national delegation of talented youth to showcase their artistic skills in New York next year.

Mbatha was crowned Miss Sundowns 2015 in Kimberley.

The three were part of seven participants consisting of models, dancers, actors and singers who had the opportunity to audition with Disney and Nickelodeon in Los Angeles, and are also booked for the New York Fashion Week and LA Fashion Week next year July.

South Africans have had great success this year and received 42 scholarships from the New York Academy. All these achievements were made possible by the partnership between Elsubie Verlinden, founder of Just You Models & Artist Management, and the international scout Kim MyesMyers is a well-known director of the Applause Rising Talent Showcase (Arts), the South African leg of the International Arts Talents.

Verlinden, on the other hand, is known to be on a crusade to open doors for young South Africans to achieve, learn and gain more experience.

Her capacity as regional director for Arts in Africa, provides many young South Africans exposure to top workshops in America.

She travels from one city to the other each year to recruit the best talent in the country X models, actors, singers and dancers X in auditions for Myers.

The artists with great potential get invited to attend a convention in Florida that is also attended by managers, producers and casting agents from Asia, Europe and America.

The seven participants now have the chance of winning in 2016. The three Northern Cape models are ready to go, but need financial assistance to cover their travelling costs, costs to appear in front of agents and also to attend workshops. They are therefore appealing for donations.

Mandy de Klerk, the mother of one of the models, said for more than 17 years, arts has provided a platform for young people to achieve their dreams.

She says that arts is recognised as one of the best and safest places in the world to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

“These children all need financial support to go and make their dreams a reality and would appreciate any kind of assistance to move forward.”

Verlinden said: “We hope your dreams will be made possible.

“Our goal is to offer the best opportunities for you to reach your dreams. Going international is not impossible.”
