THE hard work and dedication of police officers at the Viljoens­kroon Police Station received deserving recognition at the Free State police awards function held recently in Viljoenskroon (31/07).

The officers were acknowledged for best performance in the 2014-’15 financial year in the category of Lieutenant Colonel police stations in the Free State.

The members were recognised for fighting crime and their efforts also earned the station recognition for combating crime. Excellent performance saw five officers, four men and one woman, receiving individual awards, while the station got awarded for best performance in the Free State.

Individual award recipients are Const. Dorophina Thulo (best performance female member), Const. Tsietsi Tele (best performing male member), John Fundu (best community policing forum member), Sgt. Khitsane Mokhothu (best relief or shift commander) and Sgt. Molatudi Selebano (best shift at the police station).

Lt. Col. Kolisang Sello, station commander of the Viljoenskroon Police Station, and the management also awarded community members who contributed towards the station’s good performance in fighting crime.

He said both the police and community members made it possible for the station to perform well during the term.

Community members recognised were Isabel Nienaber of the Local Emergency Medical Service and Chris Mokatsane of the Viljoenskroon Hospice. They jointly received the award for best patriots in Viljoenskroon
