THANDOLETHU MOFOKENG, popularly known as Kwanza, is a 24-year-old Bloemfontein rapper whose star is on the rise on the South African music scene.

This Political Science graduate of the University of the Free State (UFS) started pursuing music in high school. This continued throughout his university years where he was identified as, “a future star to look out for” by Khuli Chana.

Kwanza is a prominent name on the Bloemfontein music scene, having recorded and performed with numerous local artists, including sharing the stage with the likes of Reason, Tuks, Mo’ Molemi, DJ Milkshake and Black Motion.

Kwanza’s success has come in the form of his latest single My Love in which he raps over a soulful house beat. He worked with local producer Isonic and vocalist Gemie.

“The song is incredible,” is all performing artist Lulo Café is prepared to say.

My Love has been playlisted on Metro FM, YFM, Tru FM, UJ FM, VOW FM, Vuma FM, North West FM and all local radio stations in Bloemfontein.

Kwanza is recording his next single and working on his EP, which will be released later this year.

My Love gives listeners the perfect idea of what the yet to be named EP will sound like, although it will feature a few hip-hop cuts.

With the success of My Love, Kwanza is definitely a star to look out for in the near future.

“When Donald mixed Randamp;B and house it was something special, this guy mixed hip-hop and house and it sounds incredible,” Metro FM DJ Tbo Touch says.
