THE PMG Rollers is a newly-established, vibrant and local netball team in Postmasburg.

This team of about 14 players has been actively participating in small tournaments.

One of the team’s highlights was winning the title of loveLife team at a human rights event earlier this year.

Kumba Iron Ore’s Kolomela Mine forms solid partnerships within the mine’s surrounding community.

One of the mine’s strong focuses is on youth development through sport and recreation and education.

Social programmes are being put in place to get community members involved and draw them away from social ills like drug and alcohol abuse.

With the increase of local sporting clubs in the community, members are encouraged to participate and show interest by supporting these type of programmes.

The PMG Rollers’ vision, according to the chairperson of the club, Ursula Morolong, is to grow the team, to become successful and to reach out to the young women of the community to get them to participate in this sport.

For this reason the PMG Rollers approached the Kolomela Mine for assistance to make it possible for them them to attain the team’s success in the sport within the community.

Following their request, the Kolomela Mine decided to donate a netball practice kit to the team.

Even though this is a newly-established team, they have already made a name for themselves locally by competing in various local sporting competitions
