A SOCIAL dialogue aimed at addressing social issues women often battle with, was held in Bloemfontein last week.

The event, organised by the Free State legislature and hosted by the law-making institution’s speaker, Mamiki Qabathe, saw more than 500 women invited to the event to hopefully find solutions to these social ills. Among the topics addressed were judicial issues pertaining to women, women’s rights, religion, tradition, poverty, crime and the daily burdens of being a woman in the Free State.

“If we can formulate a better Free State, we can formulate a better South Africa. We as the leaders of today are charged with the responsibility to build a better world,” said Qabathe. Given the interactive nature of the meeting, the audience was given an opportunity to voice their concerns and get immediate feedback, recommendations and further assistance from the panel
