THREE alleged scammers from Mangaung near Bloemfontein appeared before the Ladybrand Magi-strate Court on Monday (13/07) fa-cing charges of theft of cash.

According to Sgt. Martin Xuma, the manager of a Ladybrand bank alerted the police about three suspicious men that were standing next to the bank’s ATM.

“Our members responded quickly and they interrogated the three men. The police then called in a complai-nant who was allegedly robbed of R4 000 at the ATM. The complainant managed to identify one of the suspects who allegedly robbed him of his money at the ATM,” said Xuma.

The three suspects, Itumeleng Ntaje (30), Fikile Thembani (53) and Sizwe Khedama (24), will re-appear before the Ladybrand Magistrate Court on the 20 July for a formal bail application.

Col. Abram Raliopane, the Ladybrand Cluster Commander, said: “We applaud the two members who responded quickly and managed to arrest the two suspects. ATM users should be careful around ATMs and should not accept or request assis-tance from anyone other than bank officials in full uniform.”
