PHUTHADITJHABA. – The University of the Free State’s (UFS) Qwaqwa Campus recently hosted the second annual UFS Got Talent contest where students displayed their various talents.

Talking about the event, Moodi Matsoso, the health and wellness coordinator and the contest’s organiser, said that the event was the best platform on campus to encourage students to display their various God-given talents.

“Our aim as the university is to produce complete graduates. By complete we mean graduates who excel in their chosen fields of study, as well as in other aspects that influence their well-being,” Matsoso said.

“We believe a healthy mind resides in a healthy body.”

Over 25 acts took part this year and these included poets, dancers, singers and comedians.

Matsoso said interest from students in general had grown this year, because not only could the winners pocket great prizes – that included R2 000 cash for the first-place winner – but other contestants also won big.

“Winners up to the sixth spot also received cash and other goodies from our sponsors,” Matsoso said.

“However, the biggest incentive must have been the chance for the winners to perform with the popular Mafikizolo at the Kovsie Extravaganza.”

This year’s winners are a modern dance trio called The Untouchables, who had the audience asking for more after their breathtaking performance
