Accident victims helped

2016-11-09 06:01

The Road Accident Fund (RAF) calls on accident victims in the Free State to consult service centres based at six regional hospitals in the province.

The centres help victims and their families, as well as dependents, to lodge claims after an accident.

The centres are at the following hospitals: The Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein, Bongani Hospital in Welkom, Monapo Hospital in Qwaqwa, Parys Hospital in Parys, Boitumelo Hospital in Kroonstad and the Thebe Hospital in Harrismith.

This part of the nationwide campaign by the RAF started on 1 November and will end on 14 November.

Lindelwa Jabavu, RAF chief operations officer, said that during this time, the road state insurer would continue encouraging claimants to act directly to avoid the pitfalls associated with paying intermediaries’ fees.

“The RAF aims to execute its duties with extra dedication and fortitude while pursuing excellence.

“We will be driven by a strong desire to succeed, which will be achieved through intelligent planning and a renewed commitment to delivery,” said Jabavu.

The fund services include the lodging of claims, consolidation of compliance documents, status updates of claims applications, finalisation of settlement offers and the reporting of complaints or cases of alleged misconduct by unscrupulous attorneys.

Victims, families and their dependents are advised to bring valid documents, identity documents and information on their claim when visiting the RAF’s offices for enquiries.

  • Other relevant information required includes case numbers, accident reports, vehicle registrations and contact numbers of all parties involved in the motor vehicle accident. Victims can also phone the agents at the RAF call centre on 0860-235-523 from Monday to Friday between 07:45 and 16:00.
