The Academy of Excellence School, a privately owned school in Bloemfontein, celebrates achieving a 100% matric pass rate in 2016.

The achievement fits with the school’s 19th birthday celebration.

The school was established in 1998 and has grown to over 800 learners due to the provision of quality affordable education and a motivated group of staff members. The Academy of Excellence prides itself on the provision of high quality education on a consistent basis.

For achieving a 100% matric pass rate, the school has received recognition with a gold certificate and achiever’s trophy from the Free State Department of Education. The accolades were presented by the MEC for Education, Tate Makgoe, and the MEC for Finance, Elzabe Rockman, at a function last Thursday (05/01) held in Bloemfontein. The event celebrated the province achieving a 93,2% matric pass rate for 2016.

Hansie Engelbrecht, chief executive officer of the Academy of Excellence says: “This is an ideal way to celebrate the Academy of Excellence’s 19th birthday, achieving a 100% matric pass rate.

“Every matriculant passed English as their home language. If one considers that English is most of our learners’ third language effectively, this is a great achievement.”

Engelbrecht thanked Tommie Fourie, deputy principal, and the school’s staff for their efforts, which saw the school achieving a 100% matric pass rate, and earning recognition from the Free State Department of Education. He further congratulated the class of 2016.

  • Engelbrecht also announced that the Academy of Excellence matric rewrite centre was also situated at the school and that the very same successful teachers guided the matric candidates through their subjects with afternoon and evening classes at the school.
