Athletics action here

2016-06-22 06:00

PODIUM finishes and the added incentive of Olympic qualification will be the driving force behind the athletes competing at this year’s Africa Championships in Athletics, taking place in Durban from Wednesday (22/06).

The championships will be broadcast on SuperSport, with the World of Champions offering hour-long highlights packages for day one to day three’s action.

The events on day four and five will be broadcast live.

With the Olympic Games in Rio less than a month and a half away, fast times could be at the order of the day in Durban, considering performances by some of the continent’s top Olympic medal hopefuls.

These include the likes of Blessing Okagbare from Nigeria, Muriel Ahoure from the Ivory Coast, the Botswana duo of Nijel Amos and Isaac Makwala, Algeria’s Taoufik Makhloufi and the host nation’s contingent of Wayde van Niekerk, Caster Semenya, Cornel Fredericks and Wanda Nel.
