Body found at city hall

2016-05-25 06:00

THE Park Road Police Cluster in Bloemfontein is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the body of an unidentified man and finding his killers.

Capt. Chaka Marope, spokesperson for the Park Road Police Cluster, said an on-duty security officer made a gruesome discovery when he found the unknown man’s body in the basement entrance of the Mangaung Municipality City Hall building on Saturday (21/05) at about 07:30. He said the body had been found lying in a pool of blood with severe stab wounds on the head and in the face.

Marope said the suspects robbed and killed the victim on Friday night (20/05) in Bloemfontein and thereafter dumped his body in the basement of the city hall.

He said the victim was aged between 35 and 40 and was of the “coloured” ethnic group. The deceased was wearing blue jeans, a blue striped shirt and a yellow track suit top and had no shoes on. Marope said they suspected the victim had been robbed of his belongings, including his shoes. He said a case of murder and robbery is being investigated. A search for the killers is underway.

The police are appealing to anyone with information about the incident and the whereabouts of the suspect(s) to contact the investigating officer, WO Khaile Mathibela, on 083-725-7997.
