BLOEMFONTEIN CELTIC will look to end a drama-filled season on a high note when they clash with Polokwane City in their last outing of the 2015-’16 Premier Soccer League season on Saturday (21/05).

Oozing confidence from a seven-game unbeaten run, the Mangaung-based side hosts the visitors from Limpopo in their backyard at the Dr R.P. Molemela Stadium.

Kick-off is at 15:00 as with all fixtures under the PSL.

The Phunya Sele Sele drama was characterised by controversy Z dismal form, public spats involving factions of supporters and flamboyant chairman, Samuel Max Tshabalala, and the departure of coach Clinton Larsen.

The highlight of the drama season was Tshabalala’s unprecedented public announcement to sell the club in the wake of soaring tension between him and the club’s faithful supporters who at some point bayed for his blood.

In the midst of the drama Celtic saw a dramatic turn of events on the field, showing a steady improvement, and managing to collect 13 valuable points in seven unbeaten games since their 2-1 defeat by provincial rivals Free State Stars on 13 March.

The late recovery in form saw them weather the storm and succeed in completely avoiding the dreaded relegation from South Africa’s elite domestic league.

The drama was not without criticism of current coach, Serame Letsoaka, and the club’s players. The positive turnaround has left the squad determined to end the season on a high.

The home lads will play for pride against bottom-placed City, who won the first by leg 3-2 in Limpopo. Victory for Letsoaka’s men will be a sweet revenge and will stretch their unbeaten record to eight games, ending the drama-filled season positively.

If Celtic win they will finish on 38 points, better off than their provincial rivals Free State Stars who have also missed out on the opportunity to compete in the MTN 8 Cup of the new season.
