Celtic hope for turnaround

2016-11-16 06:00

Bloemfontein Celtic are hoping to turn around a dismal run against Polokwane City when they meet in a Premier Soccer League (PSL) outing on Sunday (20/11).

They will face off in the Dr R.T. Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein at 15:30.

Phunya Sele Sele’s bad run has seen them part ways with coach Serame Letsoaka.

Lehlohonolo Seema and John Maduka have been appointed interim coaches.

Letsoaka was fired after Celtic’s 2-1 defeat by an on-form Bidvest Wits.

Separated by five points on the log table, City (10) and Celtic (5) both are looking to consolidate their position on the table.

The hosts are yet to win at home, having lost three home fixtures, including against Wits.

Previous defeats were 1-0 to Maritzburg United and 2-1 to Lamontville Golden Arrows.

The local lads’ away record had improved under former mentor Letsoaka. The team managed to collect valuable points that include maximum points after their single 1-0 win over Platinum Stars.

A win in Sunday’s league fixture will see them move up one or two notches from their present position of 13 on the log table.

The visitors have won two games and drawn four in eight matches played thus far, as opposed to the Mangaung giants.

City has lost just two games, while Celtic have lost four matches, which include the three in their backyard.
