The Free State Symphony Orchestra invites interested young artists, singers and instrumentalists to submit applications to audition for this year’s Free State Youth Concerto Festival. Auditions are set to be held on 26 and 27 May in Bloemfontein. The closing date for applications for auditions is 15 May.

Singers should be younger than 27 years and instrumentalists should be younger than 24 years.

Auditions are aimed at identifying candidates that will perform and be part of the 2017 Youth Concerto Festival set to be held in the Odeion, University of the Free State, on 2 September.

Those chosen will be offered the opportunity to rehearse and perform with the Free State Symphony Orchestra during the Youth Concerto Festival.

Instrumentalists will be required to play one or two movements from a concerto or single movement work for solo instrument and orchestra, not exceeding 15 minutes.

Singers must perform an aria or suitable part of a work for voice and orchestra. Candidates and winners are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses and must arrange for their own accompanist.
