It is all systems go for the annual Miss Kimberley High School Beauty Pageant.

The main beauty pageant takes place on Friday, 19 May at the St Cyprian’s school hall in Du Toitspan Road, Kimberley.

Altogether 22 hopeful girls and boys of different schools in Kimberley are already sweating it out in their boot camp under the captainship of co-ordinator Motheo Manaka of Manaka Productions.

The Manaka team, the organisers of the pageant, are excited about this year’s event, as various doors have opened to them.

The top 11 of both sexes were spotted jogging in the city on Friday (21/04) around lunchtime, after a sweating session at the gymnasium, since exercise forms part of the boot camp.

According to Manaka Productions, they started the programme in January when they sourced the finalists from their internal school pageants and also accessed sponsorships.

This year’s participating schools are the Kimberley Girls’ High School, Kimberley Boys’ High School, St Cyprian’s Grammar School, Christian Brothers College (CBC), William Pescod High School, Floors High School, Emang Mmogo Comprehensive School, Tetlanyo High School, Northern Cape High School and the Kimberley Technical High School.

Highlighting this as their third annual beauty pageant, Neo Adams of Monaka Productions said the theme will be “African Traditional Wear” and it will include six categories.

“We are so excited, but also anxious about the main event, because we worked very hard and managed to attract reliable sponsors through partners like Virgin Active, Express Northern Cape, E-Models Agency and Pick n Pay. More sponsors still have to confirm their partnership.

He pointed out that a candlelight ceremony will be held at the opening session of the night.

“This time the event is showing amazing potential in terms of growth and improvement.

“It seems this is Manaka’s year in terms of the success for the pageant.

“For the first time in our history, we also have a boot camp which includes health, motivation, councelling and spiritual sessions by various parties.”

Confirming his role within the creative and entertainment element along with Samantha Oor, Adams added that the 2016 Miss Kimberley High School pageant queen, Pelonomi Moatlhodi, will also be part of the process, sharing her experience with the finalists.

Tickets for the pageant will be available from Monday (01/05) at the various schools’ administration blocks.

The tickets can also be bought from Mamosa Gcabashe at 082-997-8013 or at momo.gcabashe@gmail.com.

The crew can also be communica-ted with through their Facebook page.
