THE budding future track and fields athlete, Galaletsang Melato (11), has earned the reward for his excellence in this year’s athletics season.

He has been chosen as the deserving SuperSport Let’s Play Sports Star of the Month.

Galaletsang is June’s award winner for Express. He is a learner at the Brandwag Primary School and was chosen as the recipient for his brilliant and record-breaking performance.

Known as Gaalie, he has crushed records on the athletics track. Since the commencement of the 2016 athletics season he has also excelled in the high jump and track events.

Galaletsang competed and came top in the following four athletics meetings: Zone A, the Motheo/Xhariep Athletics Championship, the Fichie Prestige Athletics meeting and the Free State Primary Schools Athle-tics Championship, obtaining first place in the high jump for boy u.11.

Galaletsang also obtained third place at the Zone A and fifth at the Fichie Prestige Athletics meeting in the 100 m sprint event.

Thereafter he went all the way to compete at the SASA National Primary Schools Track and Field Championships where he finished in sixth position.

Gaalie’s motto is: “Discipline makes you humble, practice makes you perfect.”
