The minister of Women in the Presidency, Susan Shabangu, hosted five Techno Girl Trust beneficiaries who are currently studying towards engineering degrees at various tertiary institutions.

When you are done with your studies adopt on girl that you can mentor to become a better person. By choosing you, we are striving to create a society where boys and girls are equal and not measured on the basis of gender,” Shabangu said.

She also told the girls to stay away from old men who might pursue relationships with them.

The five girls are part of a group of 20 students who are sponsored by the Techno Girl Trust, an organisation with the objective of enhancing the participation of young women in the male-dominated fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The multinational company Reckitt Benckiser has committed R1,2 million per annum over a period of three years toward the initiative.
