Bohlokong. – A total of 231 under-privileged children of the Thabang Primary School and Ward 1 of Bohlokong near Bethlehem recently received early Christmas gifts in the form of school shoes thanks to Dibiji Mosia.

He donated 12 pairs of shoes to learners of Thabang before giving others to the children in Ward 1.

According to Mosia, when a child goes to school barefoot, one should know such a child is in need of shoes.

He said he had spent about R23 000 on buying the shoes he donated.

“I once spent half of a year without shoes,” said Mosia.

“I know how it feels. My mother was not working and we relied on my grandmother’s money to make a living.

“My father was in jail by then, as he had been arrested when I was seven years old.

“Imagine going to school barefoot in winter, or after it had rained. Believe me, it was hard to concentrate in class, but because I knew what I wanted in life, I soldiered on.”

Mosia said he had once told his mother, Pulane Mosia, that one day he would help children in need by donating school shoes and that it was like a dream for him to do this.

He said his mother had been in tears when he had bought those shoes, because she knew where the dream had come from.

“It was the first time that I bought shoes for the learners, but it was not the first time that I offered a helping hand in the community.

“I had previously sponsored both the Tiisetsang and Ntsu Secondary School with medals and trophies for their top achievers.”
