A 24 year old woman from Barkly West was raped on Monday, 31 July, at around 21:00 after she was waiting for a lift at a hiking spot between the Mataleng four-way stop and De Beershoogte.

The police’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Galeshewe is appealing to the community to assist them in finding the two suspects in this rape case.

According to Sgt Majang Skalkie of the police, the woman was waiting for a lift to Delportshoop after work.

“While she was waiting, two Nigerian men in a white Audi with Gauteng number plates stopped. They allegedly gave her a lift and dropped her off at the Delportshoop crossing,” Skalkie said.

“While she was walking home, the same vehicle returned and the two men told her to get into the vehicle, and drove off with her in the direction of Postmasburg. Apparently they gave her something to smoke, she passed out and they allegedly raped her.”

The suspects then again dropped her off at the Delportshoop crossing. One suspect is between 35 and 40 years old, well-built and is dark in complexion. The other suspect is between 30 and 35 years old, has a slender build, is dark in complexion and has a golden tooth.

Anyone who can help to locate the suspects is asked to contact the investigating officer, Det.Sgt Simphiwe Mdunge, on 073-896-4202 or on 053-807-6161.
