PROSPECTIVE South African rugby star Koketso Moganeng from the town of Boshof is appealing for assistance in funding for an international tour to England and Wales.

The rising star player’s tour expenses amount to R30 000. This includes return flight tickets, meals, accommodation, transportation, outfits and essentials for this specific tour.

Moganeng (18), a gr. 12 learner of the Boshof High School, is one the 25 players chosen for the ITEC u.19 rugby team that will be touring England and Wales from 2 to 11 October.

The team will play fixtures against local clubs and regional oppositions abroad.

Moganeng is being raised by a single parent, Lorato Rapelang, who has been unsuccessful in sourcing any sponsorship to make her son’s international tour possible. She is therefore now appealing for assistance from the public.

Rapelang still has to pay for application for a visa for her son, if successful in sourcing sponsorship of R30 000.

The untapped talent of this South African rugby star was recognised during his merited performance at this year’s 19th VKB Rugby Tournament, staged in Reitz from 26 June to 1 July.

Moganeng’s sterling form saw him receive in-succession man of the match awards at the tournament. He also received a certificate of recognition and two gold medals for helping his school win the tournament.

He distinguished himself from the players of the 12 teams from around South Africa, which had participated in the annual rugby tournament. The clubs included the VKB Leopards, Northern Natal, Eastern Province Country, the Free State Kiewiete, Southern Free Sate, Eastern Free State, the Rooikatte and Sandveld.

Moganeng was included in the 2014 South African Free u.16 team and was in the same year chosen as the player of the tournament at the VKB tournament.

His consistent form also earned him a place in the South Free State u.19 team and he was voted as the best backline player and also chosen on merit as the number-one centre at the VKB Rugby Week.

Moganeng proved he has talent for rugby when chosen to represent South Africa in the South African District international tournament in Italy. At the end of the series, he was chosen as player of the tournament and received a prestigious award.
