BETHLEHEM. Z Free State Stars remain adamant that they will hold on to their new coach, Denis Lavagne, despite him being shortlisted for the Guinea national team job.

Guinea are without a coach after Luis Fernandez had left just days before they played and lost to Swaziland in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier in June.

The West African country has since released a 15-man shortlist for the coaching job and amongst them is Lavagne, who was only introduced as the Stars coach last month.

However, Ea Lla Koto are not worried that interest in their new mentor will materialise into anything.

“We are well aware of it (the interest).

“The coach already has a contract with us, so it means they (Guinea) will have to buy him out of the contract,” a source told KickOff.com.

“No one is worried at the club, because he is still with the boys doing what he is supposed to do.

“No one is showing any signs of panic. The coach is just waiting for his work permit.”

The 51-year-old Lavagne is a former coach of the Cameroon national team and has also coached the Tunisian side, Etoile Sahel.
