Lights back on after outage

2017-08-02 06:02

Brandfort’s electricity has been restored after more than three days without power.

The power outage started on the morning of 17 July and ended late in the evening on 20 July.

According to council member Maryke Visser, residents had to spend three nights in winter without electricity.

The residents were promised that once the electricity supply was restored, the water supply would also return to normal.

“Normal to the municipality is that some houses have water and some not – that is what they deem as normal,” says Visser.

Attempts to contact the municipality went unanswered.

“The biggest problem with this municipality is their lack of communication. They don’t offer the community feedback on how far they are with repairs. If they open the channels of communication, the community can work with them,” says Visser.
