PHUTHADITJHABA. – Tsebo Mokoena (23) from the Bluegumbosch section of Phuthaditjhaba in Qwaqwa, is expected to reappear in the Makwane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (11/05) for his formal bail application.

Mokoena, who is charged with raping and murdering his girlfriend, briefly appeared before the same court a week earlier, on Wednesday (04/05).

Maserame Mbele’s body was found in a house in Bluegumbosch in Qwaqwa a few weeks ago.

It is alleged that she was raped and murdered.

Her house was also ransacked by an unknown person or persons, especially her bedroom.

According to Sgt Mmako Mophiring, police spokesperson, Mbele’s lifeless body was found naked in her room, next to the bed, with visible wounds on her forehead.

“It is suspected that she was raped before being killed.

“It appeared that she was struck with a blunt object on her forehead.

“The reason behind the brutal incident is not yet known,” he said.

A memorial service was held at the Super Natural Crecy Church in Bluegumbosch on Wednesday (04/05) to celebrate the life of Mbele, who was killed so brutally.

Vusi Tshabalala, the executive mayor of the Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality, also attended the memorial service.

As part of sympathising with the family, as well as sympathising with the church the family attended, the mayor donated R20 000.

He made this donation to help build a new church.
