Escaping from police custody proved to not be the solution for a 37-year-old suspect who was re-arrested over the weekend.

He is reported to have escaped from custody three months ago after facing charges of theft and house breaking. The man was re-arrested with his 33-year-old partner in crime at Colville, Kimberley.

His arrest came after the police received a tip-off regarding his whereabouts.

Various stolen items, including a bicycle and lawnmower, were retrieved.

Capt. Olebogen Tawana revealed that the items had been stolen when the first suspect had broken into houses around the greater Kimberley area.

“Some of the items retrieved include those stolen from churches and schools in the neighbourhood,” said Tawana.
