MEC calls for dignity for learner

2016-04-27 06:00

MARTHA BARTLETT, the Northern Cape MEC for Education, has extended her sincerest and most heartfelt message of condolence to the bereaved family of the learner who had been the victim of an incident of assault last year at the Jan Kempdorp Agricultural High School.

The learner passed on peacefully in the Bloemfontein Mediclinic on Thursday (21/04).

Bartlett highlighted in a media statement how the department had walked a road with the family following the incident to ensure that maximum support was provided.

“As the Department of Education we provided them with the maximum support and guidance, through a time when they needed us the most,” stated the MEC.

“We appeal to the media to treat his death with the sensitivity and dignity it deserves, as the family is still struggling to come to terms with his death, and afford them the privacy they deserve.”
