MEC praises Hawks

2016-03-30 06:00

THE Northern Cape MEC for Health, Lebogang Motlha-ping, has expressed his appreciation for the work of the police, especially the Hawks, and the Court of Law for securing the convictions of the three men who had defrauded the Department of over R1,4 million.

This comes after Tumelo Joel Palo (35), Mohlonoa Christian Palo (33) and the late Macdonald Mothusi Mocumi (38) were sentenced at the Kimberley Regional Court on Thursday, 17 March, on charges of theft and money laundering.

The MEC also commended the Hawks for bringing the suspects to justice with speed and swiftness.

He further urged the police, especially the Hawks, to continue to work with the department on investigations that were currently underway. “Indeed, this conviction will boost government’s efforts in combating fraud and corruption.

“This will also send a strong message to criminals that the long arm of the law will catch up with them, no matter how long it takes,” said Motlhaping.
