Zoliswa Taba aims to make her province, the Northern Cape, proud.

She is a finalist in the 2017 Mrs Africa pageant.

Taba, a lawyer by profession with an LLB degree, is a wife and a mother of two.

Her decision to take part in the Mrs Africa pageant is simply an extension of her passion for her family, her community and her country.

She is a God-fearing woman who wants to be involved in her community and assist those who are underprivileged.

“My heart is set on assisting women and children to realise their full potential and purpose in life,” says Taba.

Her biggest goal is to grow her brainchild, the My Crown Foundation, which is a non-profit organisation that she established with the objective of empowering women and children in and around Kimberley.

The organisation already has a team of committed women on board who want to make a difference in their communities.

“We also want to focus on children – both girls and boys because ignoring a boy’s needs creates problems for the future,” Taba says.

“Through this organisation, we are planning to create role models for our children and give both women and children a platform to shine.”

She hopes that her journey to Mrs Africa will give her an opportunity to strengthen the organisation, as the competition is all about giving back to communities.

“Among other services, we will provide free legal advice to the poor, promote the arts, host family seminars, publish our own written work, highlight education and encourage self-employment.

“We are all about bringing fun and happiness back to Kimberley and the surrounding areas.”

She will also work with other charity organisations to plough back into her community.

Her motto is her driving force: “Although one cannot change the world at a go, changing one person’s life at a time is more than enough to contribute to the better world we all dream of.”

Taba sincerely takes this motto to heart.

“If I can change just one person’s life through this pageant and sow a seed in that person to also change the next person’s life, I will have achieved my purpose in entering this competition,” she says.

She further request more sponsorships to support her journey as Mrs Africa Continental Finalist.

The Mrs Africa pageant was started in 2006 by Carolyn Baldwin-Botha, CEO of Pageants South Africa.

Baldwin-Botha is known as the mother of pageantry in South Africa.

Carolyn has produced thousands of titles nationally and internationally over the past 17 years, including Mrs Africa, with charity work being the golden thread that links this dynamic pageant system together.

The final week of the Mrs Africa pageant and the prestigious gala event is set to take place from 29 October to 5 November in South Africa.

The venue is still to be confirmed.
