No proper planning done

2016-10-19 06:00

MARCHAND DU PLESSIS, DA councillor, Mafube Municipality:

THE DA has requested a meeting with the Mafube Municipality’s technical director, Abraham Mphuti, to inquire about why vehicles have been in the workshop for long periods without being repaired or replaced and about how the municipality is planning to ensure that these vehicles are fixed so that they can render the services that they should.

This was after our oversight visit to the municipality’s technical department. A visit to the water purification site also revealed that two of the six filters were broken, clarifiers needed to be dislodged and pipes needed to be installed to recycle backwash water.

At the workshop, there were vehicles and equipment that should be used for service delivery, but these were broken down and had been waiting for repairs. Many of the vehicles have reached the end of their lifespan and will need to be replaced.

These vehicles have been in the workshop for so long without any plan to fix or replace them. This is a sign of poor planning and has resulted in poor service delivery.

The time is coming when the DA will get the opportunity to step in with a political will and a determination to change the situation. The current government has proven time and again in the Mafube Municipality that they are incapable and unwilling to run the municipality.

It is unacceptable that the residents of Mafube are the ones who have to carry the brunt of bad service delivery and poor management.
