AN intensive search is being launched by the police in Kimberley for the driver of a single cab bakkie that caused another vehicle to crash into the Mercedez Benz of the deputy provincial commissioner in the Northern Cape responsible for crime detection.

According to Col. Mohale Ramatseba, the accident happened at about 16:00 on Friday (14/10) in Long Street, Kimberley.

It is alleged that the bakkie hit a Corsa bakkie, which hit the commissioner’s Mercedez Benz, before the driver sped off.

The speeding bakkie was described as a silver grey single cab.

“The bakkie was reportedly damaged in the front,” said Ramatseba.

The provincial commissioner of the South African Police Service in the Northern Cape, Lt.Gen. Risimati Shivuri, has strongly condemned the action of the driver that sped off after causing the accident.

He emphasised that no stone will be left unturned in ensu-ring that the perpetrator is brought to book in order to face the full might of the law.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run incident is urged to contact Brig. Shaun Mills of Northern Cape Crime Detection on 082-371-6667 or to phone Crime Stop on 08600-10-111 or the nearest police station.
